Going FWD?

Wow, what a difference a few months makes. After a disappointing 2011 season. We decided to swap my 1995 Eagle Talon to an automatic. We started collecting parts for the swap. Then one day I was browsing a national DSM board and found a beautiful race car for sale. After a 2800 mile round trip to Wisconsin. She is home safe in our shop. It’s a 1995 Eagle Talon FWD. I have a few more pictures up on my Flickr account. More to come as we get ready for the 2012 season.

602hp/474tq on the Dyno

After a bust dyno session last week. We headed back to the dyno at ZipTie Dynowerks last night. T. Talon ran awesome and put down 602hp/474tq at 36 psi. I’m still running the evo maf so we didn’t push the boost any higher because of maf overrun. Yes, I do plan on going speed density. The car just hasn’t been up and running long enough this season to get it done. The last race of the year is tonight at Rocky Mountain Raceway. I’ll be there hoping for some good times!

Brick Wall Fixed; Dyno Session

I mentioned previously that my brick wall issue appeared again. With some help from a friend, we found the issue: clogged fuel filters.

Cleaned the fuel system out and T. Talon was good to go.

Headed to the dyno to get a tune on before the last race of the year on Friday. Well, 12 degrees of knock decided to ruin the day, followed by a blown intercooler weld. We ended up finding out the knock sensor was only finger tight, and wiggling around, causing the knock. The intercooler will be fitted with new end tanks this week.

Trying to figure out the knock (before we knew it was the sensor) but shutting the run down early. (Click photo to see the video.)

New PPG Dog Box Showed Up

Well, the new PPG dog box came from ShepTrans. Got it all installed. Took the car around the block, car ran good. Went to the track, car ran bad. The issue is almost a mirror of the brick wall issue from ’09 when we got the car put together.

I give up.
